This Technology Bulletin contains the results of a survey conducted by the Center for Technology and Research of Printing Industries of America regarding the features and capabilities of mailing software. There are 13 software programs listed in the report, which provides an excellent representation of the software currently available.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The survey consisted of 47 questions, split in focus between functionality, software compatibility and usage, support and training, and purchase price. Data is presented on all the systems. Data mining was then used to identify software by the specific features likely to determine which package a company purchases. The survey will be updated annually.

Approximately 30% of printing companies perform mailing for their customers, while others are looking to implement the service. The selection of mailing software is critical to being able to provide customers the best postal rates, meet postal requirements, and achieve the shortest delivery time. The survey results make it easier to compare software packages, avoiding the danger of snap, uniformed purchase decisions.
