Proprietary Research

PIA’s Center for Print Economics Management is the premier source of accurate, up-to-date economic, market research and management information on the North American printing industry.  The Center has access to an extensive proprietary database of information on the printing industry. This database was developed through years of surveys of member printers, non-member printers, and industry equipment manufacturers and consumable suppliers. The Center has state-of-the-art survey software and statistical analysis capabilities. It also has access to government data on the printing industry and the economy.

The Center for Print Economics and Management staff resources include:

  • Dr. Ron Davis, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist
  • Tai McNaughton, Economist

The Center also has access to additional key resources:

  • Stuart Margolis, CPA of Margolis Partners
  • A cooperative research program with the Department of Management, Middle Tennessee State University

The Center’s resources are available for proprietary industry research. Services can range from quick answers to one or two questions that no one else can answer to more elaborate customized research. In many cases we can provide special tabulations of current databases to answer questions with a one-day turnaround or tap into our on-going surveys for customized questions.

We conduct a series of regularly scheduled surveys of printers and have developed numerous databases on various industry topics. These are used for our own internal purposes and for developing industry reports. We also provide a wide variety of customized research services to printers, industry suppliers and consultants.
