Examinations and Certificates for Sheetfed Offset, Web Offset, and Prepress Skills Trainees

Pre-Test
Printing Industries of America offers Benchmark Knowledge Assessment Examinations to use at the initiation of a sheetfed or web offset training program to determine training needs and begin the planning process. The Benchmark Exam contains 100 questions taken from the training programs’ knowledge sections. Printing Industries of America’s testing service grades the exams and provides a follow-up Training Assessment Report that shows strengths and weaknesses in specific subject areas and compares test results to national averages.(Pre-Test not available for Prepress Skills Training Program.)

Post-Test (Final Exam)
At the conclusion of the web or sheetfed curriculums training, students can take a Comprehensive Examination ordered from and graded by Printing Industries of America. This exam takes questions from each task or subject area in the corresponding program. Students/Trainees who score an 80% or higher are provided a certificate showing that they have demonstrated the requisite operator knowledge. Any student who does not score an 80% or higher has the option of retaking the exam for an additional fee.

Certificates of Completion and Graduate Patches*

One Printing Industries of America Certificate of Completion and one Graduate Patch are awarded to each student/trainee who has met the following criteria for the Sheetfed and Web programs (patches not provided in Prepress program):

1. Completed the required coursework associated with either the web or sheetfed curriculum—i.e., all reading and study assignments and all laboratory/hands-on operations.

2. Passed the corresponding Comprehensive Exam with an 80% or higher.

1. New pricing for Pre-Test and Retake Exams, as well as paper versions of Post-Test.
2. The online version of the test is the optimum choice for the test process. The hardcopy paper test is only available for those situations where online access is denied to the student/trainee.

Pre-Test
Online Testing:

• 1–24 exams: $25 each
• 25+ exams: $20 each

Paper Test:

• 1–24 exams: $30 each
• 25+ exams: $25 each

(Note: There is no Pre-Test for the Prepress Skills Training Program)

Post-Test
Online Testing:

• 1–24 exams: $50 each 

• 25+ exams: $40 each

Paper Test:

• 1–24 exams: $55 each
• 25+ exams: $45 each

Re-Take Post Tests

• Online: $20 each
• Paper: $25 each

*Please note: Printing Industries of America Curriculum certificates are designed to recognize successful completion of the Printing Industries of America programs and are in no way intended to replace or imply the national certification issued by the National Council for Print Industry Certifications (NCPIC). The objectives of the Printing Industries of America programs are, however, consistent with the standards and practices developed by the Council and are considered a method of preparation for its exams.
