What Are Some of The Projects Your Company Has Undertaken Recently?
Recently, Spiral expanded its NJ (corporate office), New York and Texas (Southwest region) sales and distribution centers. This allows Spiral to better service its customers.
Spiral is constantly striving to provide state-of-the-art web and technology services to both employees and customers. This is one of the areas in which lagging behind can affect the results of business. To ensure Spiral remains on top, it has invested over one million dollars in technology upgrades over the last few years.
How Many Years Have You Been in the Industry?
This year, Spiral proudly celebrates its 75th year in business.
Name the Most Pressing Challenge or Issue You are Currently Facing
Like any company, finding the right people for the right job is a challenge. Spiral has a fantastic core group of people in all branches that are the backbone of the organization. However, there are a few key slots Spiral is looking to fill and having difficulty with. The challenge is finding someone who best meets the majority of Spiral’s requirements and who clicks with the personality and culture of the company.
Another challenge facing Spiral, and a majority of US businesses, is the rising cost of healthcare insurance. Spiral strives to provide the best possible insurance for its employees.
Tell Us About a Recent Success You or Your Company Has Achieved
The greatest achievement Spiral has had is reaching the 75th anniversary milestone. Spiral has worked hard to stay in business during some difficult times in US history. Spiral was started in 1932, an era when businesses were closing up shop left and right: the Great Depression. World War II presented another unique challenge to Spiral, as binding until this point was done with wire. The government seized Spiral’s wire supply, forcing them to seek alternative methods. Thus, plastic coil binding was developed. The product is still in use today.
Another of Spiral’s greatest achievements is its employees. Several employees have celebrated the 45-year mark with Spiral, with one employee reaching the 50-year milestone this year. These dedicated employees are a testament to the way Spiral focuses itself not only on its clients, but also with its employees.
What Resources Do You Utilize to Help You Achieve Business Goals?
As a family owned business, Spiral works very hard at treating its employees with respect and dignity. Each and every employee makes a contribution to Spiral and is a part of Spiral’s success.
One of the promises Spiral makes to customers is same day shipping on orders. Without a strong network of employees on the Spiral team, this promise wouldn’t be accomplished.
Spiral’s management group is a strong, diverse team with many years of job and industry experience behind them. Many say success comes from the top down, and a strong management level ensures every other level is strong and thriving.
One final piece of the puzzle that helps Spiral achieve its business goals is a tremendous website. The Spiral website is very popular with customers, allowing them to locate the best products to meet their needs. The site is a great instrument for company recognition and business strategy.
What is Your View of the Industry?
Spiral finds the industry is in a state of consolidation right now, which doesn’t have to have a negative connotation with it. The remaining companies are becoming stronger and more creative in handling the customer and the way they do business.
More than ever, all businesses in this industry are embracing technology as a way to increase profitability and creativity.
In spite of the rumors for the last 25 years, we will never become a “paperless society” and our industry can only benefit as more and more reports and proposals are generated through today’s technology!
