1.         Position Purpose

  • To provide strategic management of Company’s critical operational functions including manufacturing, information technology, customer service, warehouse operations and purchasing.  To provide strategic and continual improvement of Company operations to ensure corporate efficiency and competitiveness.

2.         Essential Functions & Principle Accountabilities

  • Manages all functions of and people working in manufacturing, IT, customer service, warehouse and purchasing processes
  • Defines and recommends objectives in each area of Operations.  Develops specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.
  • Develops plans for new technology for all operational areas in support the mission
  • Reviews and approves cost control reports, cost estimates, and manpower and facilities requirements forecasts
  • Reviews performance against operating plans and standards.  Provides reports on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans
  • Participate in the Steering Committee for the implementation of an ERP system
  • Post ERP implementation, monitor & improve system in support of all ALC operations
  • Develops and recommends corporate operations policy within the Operations Department
  • Reviews and approves Operations major projects involving major functional changes within the Department's functional areas
  • Establishes objectives and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities.  
  • Selects, manages and motivates employees
  • Consults with all segments of management responsible for policy or action.  Ensures compliance within area of responsibility.
  • Makes recommendations for improving effectiveness of policies and procedures.
  • Manage all operational systems for maximum efficiency
  • Ensures standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production
  • Continually evaluate operational system effectiveness
  • Ensures fixed assets are preserved
  • Initiates recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant property
  • Manage system upgrades & conversions
  • Analyze operational data on a continual and ongoing basis for process improvement
  • Develops, monitors, and reports on operating costs within functional areas.
  • Makes recommendations and implements solutions
  • Develop & manage operational department budgets
  • Support ISO & QA process improvement efforts

5.         Education/Training/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or technology discipline or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree in business, engineering or technology discipline a plus
  • 10 years plus experience in business operations
  • 10 years plus management experience
  • Experience working in or with Manufacturing, Warehouse, IT and Purchasing 
  • Previous responsibility and solid understanding of production, purchasing, inventory control, production control and networks, IT, as well as shipping, receiving, and warehousing.
  • ISO experience

6.         Technology
