The 2010 Web2Awards Winners
The 2010 Web2Awards Winners
Printing Industries of America and the Digital Printing Council are proud to announce the recipients of the 2010 web2awards. This award celebrates the forward-thinking mindset of printers and their ability to adopt current technologies to augment their businesses. In its second year, the web2awards is the premier—and only—annual award competition that names the best websites in the print/marketing service provider industry. With revamped and streamlined entry categories, this year’s recipients of the web2awards showcase what is possible when print and technology come together.
“It’s clear from the sites we’ve seen this year that printers are using their growing expertise with Internet-based services to offer creative, compelling websites of their own,” said Julie Shaffer, vice president, digital technologies for Printing Industries of America. “We saw some fabulous entries this year and already have ideas for new categories for 2011 for things like integration of social media tools to enhance businesses.’”
Entries were judged by an anonymous panel in six areas—overall design; structure and navigation; content; technology; ease of use; and innovation. Point values between 0 and 60 were awarded in each category. Any averaged score above 48 received an Exceptional Website Award certificate. Companies were divided according to annual sales volume: under $15 million and $15 million and over. For each company sales range, the highest score in a given category is awarded Best of Category. All Best of Category winners were evaluated to select the Best of Show.
Best of Category Winners
Category: Under $15 million—PSP (no e-commerce)
Company: Point Imaging
Website: pointimaging.com
Judge’s Comment: It had something for everyone—videos, tour (with the equipment list), downloadable resources.
Category: Over $15 million—PSP (e-commerce)
Company: Mimeo.com
Website: mimeo.com
Judge’s Comment: No use of technology just for the sake of using technology. The ease of use is amazing, the depth and detail to help the customer is by far the best of any site I have seen in the entire group.
Category: Under $15 million-PSP (e-commerce)
Company: Buttonworks
Website: buttonworks.com
Judge’s Comment: This was one of the most meaningful site features found in the competition: "We're not afraid to talk to you. Need help or just don't like placing orders over the Net? Contact Us."
Category: Over $15 million—PSP (e-commerce)
Company: Mimeo.com
Website: my.mimeo.com
Judge’s Comment: Nice mix of eye-easy text and graphics. Appealing, informative and approachable interface. Most important for an e-commerce site I found it easy to follow from one step to the next. Great organization of content and order process well thought out and easy to understand.

Category: Over $15 million—PSP (no e-commerce)
Company: Glenroy, Inc.

Judge’s Comment: I think this is an example of a site that customers will return to when they are trying to work out the plan or details of what they want to submit.
Category: Over $15 million—PSP (e-commerce)
Company: Mimeo.com
Website: apps.facebook.com/fotobooks
Judge’s Comment: Finding ways to leverage print far beyond “waiting” for someone to need it will be the skill set of future successful businesses.
Best of Show
Company: Mimeo.com
Website: my.mimeo.com
Judge's Comments: This site is more about functionality than form, but is top of the line in both areas. Excellent use of colors. It's very easy to use and offers great options to the user.
Websites entered into the competition will receive a summary of the judges feedback. Best of Category and Best of Show winners receive an award statue containing the engraved URL of the winning site and company. Exceptional Website and other winners receive a personalized web2awards certificate recognizing their achievement. Awards will be presented during the 2010 Converge Conference, November 6–9, 2010, in Memphis, TN.
